Expect our call

Our campaign to bring in extra regular donations to the Weekly Worker seems to have hit a snag, with no extra standing order commitments landing on my desk last week. Hopefully, however, with the ring-round of friends, supporters and readers having now begun, there will be a fresh burst of pledges over the next seven days.

We need to raise an additional £500 a month by July and we have received £215 so far. I’m sure there are dozens of comrades prepared to help us out, but perhaps some need a bit of encouragement - that’s where our team of persuaders come in! But you don’t have to wait for that phone to ring - why not download an SO form from the home page of our website?

Speaking of which, we had 25,022 online readers last week - of which no fewer than 5,697 downloaded Weekly Worker 708 in pdf format. I think it must have been that front page of the SWP’s very own Pinocchio, Chris Bambery, that did it. I don’t know whether it was that which caused comrade DC to donate £20, but, whatever the reason, his PayPal donation was gratefully received.

Among the other one-off donations was a very handy £50 from PH and £30 from HD. In addition there were several smaller gifts which helped raise our February total to £619. But, don’t forget, we need to get that up to £1,000 by July, including new SOs.

But don’t worry if you forget - expect our call!
