Just a week away

There is now just over a week to go before Communist University, the CPGB’s annual week-long summer school, which begins on Saturday August 8. In other words, next week will be the final issue of the Weekly Worker before our normal two-week summer break.

But I can give you some good news before then: we have gone shooting past our monthly fighting fund target of £2,750 with two days of July still remaining. Over the last week we received some excellent donations. Thanks, first of all, to comrades JC (£176!), RL (£60), AG (£50), DD and JT (£25 each), PS (£24), CA, JP and AB (£20), JM (£15), TT and JD (£10) and AR (£5). All those comrades contributed via bank transfer or standing order.

Then we had five handy PayPal donations - thanks to comrades JB and DB (£50), ES (£8), DI and AC (£5). Finally comrade Hassan handed his usual £5 note to one of our team. All that came to £583, taking the running total for July up to £2,808 with two days to spare. In other words, we’re already £58 past the target - next week you’ll know the final total for July, as well as how the August fighting fund has started.

While there won’t be an issue of the Weekly Worker on August 13 or 20, why not experience a different form of debate to what you read in the paper? Come to Communist University - either in person or online (no charge), for as many sessions as you want, where you’ll witness much more of the open exchange of ideas that you read in this paper.
