Make up lost ground
What an excellent week for the Weekly Worker fighting fund. Incredibly, thanks to the support of our readers, we raised more in the last seven days than over the first two weeks!
True, it’s that time of the month when some substantial standing orders come our way and October has been no exception. We received no fewer than four three-figure contributions - tremendous thanks to comrades LM, JC, SK and PM. On top of that, other SOs or bank transfers came from comrades TW and MM (£75 each), TR (£40), GB (£30), DR (£20), IS (£17), MD and JL (£10 each). Finally comrades KS (£50), GP and RD (£5 each) clicked on the PayPal button on our website.
All that came to a remarkable £1,093 - which, when added to the £1,085 raised in the first fortnight, comes to £2,178. So, with 10 days still to go, as I write, I am confident we will easily reach our monthly £2,750 target. But last month we were over £200 below that (not to mention other months earlier in the year, when we were also short of target).
So, as I wrote two weeks ago, we should really aim for a nice, round £3,000 this month - that would really help us make up for lost ground. Please help us get there, preferably by making a transfer or using PayPal - that way, we would be sure to get your donation before October 31. But you never know - we might even get a cheque you send, provided you post it to us very soon after you read this.
The Weekly Worker depends on you, our readers and supporters, to ensure we keep playing our vital role in the campaign for a single, genuinely democratic-centralist, Marxist party, which the working class so badly needs. Please do what you can, comrades!
