Five days to go

Welcome back to the Weekly Worker after our two‑week summer break.

True, there’ve been no copies of the paper since August 6, but that hasn’t stopped our readers and supporters sending us those essential donations! Over the last three weeks we’ve received no less than £1,729, taking our running total for August up to £2,357, with five days to go, as I write, to get the £400 we still need in order to reach that very necessary monthly target of £2,750.

No less than 36 comrades contributed to our fighting fund over the last three weeks - rather too many to tell you how much exactly they all chipped in with - but here are some highlights.

First of all, five comrades came up with three-figure donations - thank you very much, comrades TB, LM, SK, PM and JC. On top of that, comrades PB, MM, LR, TB, PM, KS and JB each contributed between £50-plus and £100. Then there were comrades NR, RD, DV, TR, OG, GB, SI, DR, ST and AB, who donated between £11 and £50. Finally there were 14 comrades whose contributions were £10 or less - thanks also to comrades SM, PM, CC, JL, MD, TT, MH, NL, SO, AR, GP, RD, ES and Hassan.

It goes without saying, by the way, that quite a few of the last batch of donors only wish they could contribute more than a tenner, but, of course, everything they give mounts up when added together!

But now we want to make sure we not only reach that £2,750 target, but go shooting past it! If you want to play your part, please do so by Monday August 31. Please make a bank transfer or use PayPal to make sure we get it on time. Let’s do it!
