SLP candidates on May 2

The SLP in Manchester is standing two candidates in the local elections. Jack Crossfield for Tameside is an active trade unionist and a member of a number of anti-racist and unemployed groups. He is also a member of Greenpeace.

John Michael Smith is standing for St Paul’s ward (in Oldham) where he was a Labour councillor from 1990 to 1994.

Their election addresses state:

“The SLP has been formed in the belief that we urgently need to organise to resist these attacks being made on us.

“The SLP supports the right of the people of this country to a full return of all the wealth generated by the industries and services of our nation. We are committed to an economy that utilises and values our most precious resource - human beings. We are committed to full employment and the right to work, the right to a properly funded National Health Service free at the point of delivery, the right to a fair pension, the right of all to adequate housing, the right to free child care provision and the promotion of a safe and healthy environment.”
